Message-ID: I don?t do facebook so I don?t know if there?s been some kind of delay or if I?m behind on the latest news on the vinyl, but I haven?t received my EP yet. This poses a few questions for me. a) I don?t have the facility to play vinyl any more, so why bother pre-ordering? b) The tracks have been on youtube for quite some time now, so why bother pre-ordering? (Fall, the last of the tracks to become available was on youtube two weeks ago) c) The tracks have been available to download on iTunes, since 23rd June, so why bother pre-ordering? In fact, can it even be called a ?pre-order? if you don?t get it ?before the masses?? I?m not trying to moan, I?d have bought the dang thing as I?m a ?completist? but I had an email weeks ago saying ?your order has been completed? but it obviously hasn?t. Is it just me? In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: Well... It was a pre-order as it was in advance of the on-sale date. Obviously our intention was to have it in your hands before the digital releases but we had problems getting our shipment of singles. So we received ours the same day speedo wax's were delivered to uk customers! I know Rich I shipped last them Friday so expected them to be arriving this week but due to a wonderful bit of meteorology the glue sealing the packs didn't seal properly as it was too warm so we had to reseal about 50 singles on Monday when the handling agents called us so they went back into the system on Tuesday. Arrivals were due Friday onwards but I've only heard of a couple making it so far... In terms of why you buy it... Buying the single supports the band. Whether that's digital or physical. With JJ they want the physical to be a really decent product like how we did the DVD executive Producer packs etc. Creating a product instead of just a digital download is a reward for the fans as it's something physical. Digital is a bit too transient for me... I paid full price for my copies both from the JJ shop and Speedowax. If you listen to it in Spotify without ever buying it you'll won't have even contributed a pint to a single member of the band who spent hours/days making this single happen. Listen to it on YouTube and there's nothing in it worth mentioning in fact with all of the listens being spread over Tidal, Spotify, Apple Music and so on the revenues become less noticeable as many services have minimum amounts to qualify for payments so the payments come with less frequency. Of course this isn't a JJ specific issue it's for all the bands and artists. The revenues are getting smaller for everyone it just hurts a little less when you are Taylor Swift! That said if there's a "reward" people would like to see next time round that can help boost revenues a bit more let me know and I can put it to the band. As I hope you are all aware there is a lot more to come over the next year from the band... Obviously all the above is IMO as I don't speak for the band but I'm close enough to them to know they want everything they do to be to the benefit of their fans instead of just to make a few quid. A PS if you had the "completed" email any earlier than Friday last week let me know as it really shouldn't have gone out before then!!
