Comments: Just listened to Nowhere Slow which was undoubtedly the rockiest thing I've heard from Mike in a long while (perhaps ever) and was great. The fast singing bit in the middle which is too long for the music was absolutely fantastic and somehow reminded me of a well known tune but I can't for the life of me think what it is. Overall the three tracks are great, however I agree with Iain Baker that I couldn't see them working if sung by a female. I think the problem also lies that with Mike singing they just sound like Jesus Jones again and that is how the press are going to perceive it, and as they hated JJ last time around, it won't be commercially successful. Rather than giving them a crap review, the NME and MM didin't even bother to review Already so from that point I can see why a new singer is needed. I do think Mike has a great voice though!

Comments: Does anyone think that "Hello Neon" sounds a bit like "Damn Good at This" - a bit worrying considering this was a B-side back in 1990..oops. The singing was a bit off until the chorus of Hello Neon erupts then all was forgiven. I liked Princess of Mine but agree that it'll sound a bit strange with a woman singing those lyrics. Haven't heard Nowhere Slow yet as my computer crashed! I just e-mailed someone at Food Records moaning about how Mike's solo deal has to be well publicised to succeed and after talking about Already bombing in the UK was told that Jesus Jones weren't dropped from Food - they split up! Quite contrary to everything else I've read on the websites which states that they haven't officially split up. For the record can someone set this straight?

Comments: I wondered what happened to them after their Doubt album? My copy broke, and i can't find the bugger anywhere in the shops. Will they tour soon?

Comments: I think Iain's got a point with the 'gang' theory. I often write better songs when I've got mates around to bounce ideas off. Admittedly I still end up doing most of the work, but the end result just seems to have that extra something.

Comments: my major problem with getting a female singer is that it negates mikes biggest asset: i.e. that he is a charismatic frontman for a band- one of the biggest prerequisites for success. I understand that the record company may be trying to repair damage to mikes credibility rating but i believe he has it in him to be able to write great pop songs; for a pop audience, credibility loss can be forgotten if you just release a great pop record. love and respect, iain

Comments: Well I agree with Iains' second point, but I guess its worth a try. I think perhaps if he'd known all along who he was writing the songs for .ie someone else to sing they'd have been different.

Comments: still not sure about mikes demos.......i think that mikes best asset was the way he wrote Jesus Jones songs for the band; like a gang; i can't hear that in the new tunes.I have now arrived at the conclusion that getting someone else to sing the songs is not a very good idea......mikes songs are so distictive that if the whole idea is to convince the general public that it isn't really mike......well i just can't see it working.........

Comments: I've just downloaded Mike's Demos ... The Princess of My Heart sounds superb. I just can't imagine what it would sound like sung by a woman (The Prince of my heart ???) I understand what Andy Ross is saying about the potential press backlash, but surely Mike could sing on a couple of the songs ??? Perhaps with Guest vocalist's on the Singles ?
